District Facing a Sobering Rate

Faced with tenaciously high rates of teen pregnancy, school leaders are pursuing new ways to teach sexual responsibility and help students achieve long-term goals.

In a marked shift, Schenectady school officials have brought sex education programs from Planned Parenthood and Girls Inc. into the high school, and are adopting creative methods to urge more students to consider college.
