Spotlight on Sanai Bedell: Future Supreme Court Justice in the Making
We’re so proud to shine a spotlight on one of our incredible Eureka! scholars, Sanai Bedell: student, a future changemaker, and the 2025 recipient of the YWCA Young Excellence Award. We’re deeply grateful to the YWCA for recognizing Sanai’s drive, vision, and leadership. In her own words below, Sanai shares her goals, her journey with Eureka!, and her advice for other girls dreaming big.
My name is Sanai Bedell. I am a junior at Albany Academy. After high school, I have plans to continue my education at a HBCU. My major will be pre-law. I want to become a Federal Supreme Court Justice so I can pay it forward to the next girl that has dreams just like myself.
It is an honor to receive the 2025 YWCA Young Excellence Award. I am humbled to accept this award and grateful that Girls Inc. Eureka! has chosen me to receive it. Being a part of Eureka! has opened up so many opportunities for young girls like myself. We get to go to colleges for immersion days, learn how to network, do arts and crafts, cook — and the best part is internships.
For the past few summers, I was able to shadow judges at family court and even take part in real decision-making. My experiences have been amazing since I joined Eureka!, and I would definitely recommend any and all girls to look into joining.
Why Law?
I used to watch court TV shows and I like being in charge. Arguing the facts and making change has been a passion of mine.
The Eureka! Impact
While being involved in Eureka! I’ve gained so many life skills like networking, going on college immersion days, interacting with staff and other girls, learning STEM, or doing other fun activities.
Advice for Other Girls
I would tell other girls: find connections, don’t be scared to ask questions, and always do your research.
