Girls Inc. Announces $15,000 Gift from Martin Electric to Aid Summer Camp Programming

Rensselaer, NY [December 20, 2024]: Today, Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region announced a $15,000 gift from Martin Electric, a new partner and recent Holiday Shop Match supporter. This contribution will fund programming for a construction-themed week during the organization’s 2025 summer camp, designed to introduce girls to careers in male-dominated industries and inspire confidence to pursue opportunities in STEM and the trades.

The announcement was made this morning during a press event at Martin Electric’s headquarters at 164 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY.

Martin Electric’s partnership with Girls Inc. began earlier this holiday season, when the company served as the first Holiday Shop Match Partner, matching all holiday wishlist gifts and monetary donations up to $2,000. Their continued support demonstrates the critical role community partnerships play in providing resources and opportunities for girls to thrive.

“This gift from Martin Electric reflects a deep commitment to breaking down barriers and inspiring girls to envision themselves in roles where they’ve traditionally been underrepresented,” said Ashli Fragomeni, CEO of Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region. “We are so excited for Construction Week, where our girls will build skills, confidence, and the belief that they belong in every room — from boardrooms to construction sites.”

Building Futures: A Construction-Themed Summer Week

Martin Electric’s $15,000 gift will support the activities, materials, and programming needed to bring Construction Week to life during the 2025 Girls Inc. summer camp. The week will include hands-on projects and workshops sparking interest in STEM and trade careers.

“We are proud to partner with Girls Inc. to create impactful programming and help inspire these girls to pursue their dreams. This initiative represents more than just skills development—it’s about inspiring the new generation of leaders to explore rewarding careers in the trades. We believe that by empowering young women with the knowledge and hands-on experience they need, we can help reshape the future of construction and create a more inclusive, innovative workforce for years to come,” said Kendra Hart, Martin Electric President. “It’s our hope that other organizations will see the value in making similar commitments, which is why we’re inviting other local businesses to join this effort by sponsoring a themed summer camp week.”

A Call to Action: Help Create the Future

In 2024, Girls Inc. provided its first full year of free programming, including summer camp, thanks to the generosity of donors and partners in the community. Now, the organization is inviting local businesses and individuals to ensure the continuation of this community driven initiative for 2025.

By contributing, supporters can help fund additional themed weeks, like Construction Week, that expose girls to diverse careers and equip them with new tools to succeed.

“Martin Electric’s generosity sets a powerful example of how organizations can make a direct and lasting impact to our community and to our girls,” said Fragomeni. “Together, we can expand the possibilities for our girls and create an even greater impact in 2025.”
