Summer Fun, sponsored by National Grid, offers girls an exciting array of activities at our main centers in Albany & Schenectady! Girls will explore, discover and imagine as they engage in fun, interactive and hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities.

2017 Schenectady Summer Fun Sessions

Who: Girls entering Kindergarten through 8th grades
What: A spectacular 4 week Summer Fun program!
Where:
 962 Albany Street, Schenectady, NY
When: June 26th – July 22nd     9:00am – 5:00pm
Cost: $115 per week or $210 for 2 weeks if paid in advance.  Scholarships available on a limited basis and the discount does NOT apply.

Session 1 (June 26 – June 30): “Baking with Chemistry” Girls will investigate the basics of chemistry as they bake delicious goods. They will challenge themselves to see if they can combine the right ingredients without the recipe to create a tasty dessert.

Session 2 (July 3 & July 5-7):  “Amazing Race” Girls will travel to different attractions throughout the Capital Region and beyond to accomplish team challenges.

Session 3 (July 10 – July 14): “Headed for Greatness” Girls will explore many different career possibilities. Have you ever wanted to be a firefighter, an EMT, a law enforcement officer, a scientist, something in media production? If so, join us this week!

Session 4 (July 17 – July 21): “Girls Make The Message” This week has the girls taking part in various activities involving media and media production. They will dissect the messages they are receiving in everyday advertising, and from that produce their own PSA and skits.

Session 5 (August 7 – August 11): “Fear Factor” We don’t want our fears to hold us back, so each day girls will use their strength, senses, and knowledge to face their fears.

Session 6 (August 14 – August 18): “Around the World in 5 days” Each day a different country is explored. The girls will learn about language, fashion, customs, and food of the world.


 

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration for summer programs begins in early spring! Scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served limited basis for our summer programs. Scholarship applications are included with the regular registration form. A copy of your most recent tax return must be submitted with the registration form.

There are two ways to register:

  • When registration opens bring your registration form and payment to either the Albany site between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. or Schenectady site between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on regular business days.
  • Mail your form and payment to 962 Albany Street, Schenectady, NY 12307, Attn: Summer Registration.
