And the winner is…

When Jennifer Campione (right) arrived at the Girls Incorporated®  of the Greater Capital Region’s 2014 Diamonds in the Rough on June 19 at the 205 on Wolf Lounge in Colonie, she didn’t know she would leave with the grand prize. Pictured here with Jennifer, wearing the $2,100.00 diamond cluster necklace from Frank Adams Jewelers, is Ashley Jeffrey, Girls Inc.’s Executive Director. Nearly 100 people attended the fundraiser to support programming offered to local girls, ages 5 to 18.

Event Honorary Chair Tahnya Brown is manager of SEFCU’s Schenectady branches. She welcomed guests and thanked them for standing with her in support of Girls Inc., an organization she discovered after moving with her son and daughter to the Capital Region from Dutchess county about three years ago.

Tahnya explained that when her now grown children were young, there was no Girls Inc. agency close to their Beacon, NY home. As a single mom, Tahnya would have taken great satisfaction in knowing her daughter had an educational and safe environment to go to after school. The programs would have been very beneficial to her daughter, as well.

Today, Tahnya utilizes every opportunity to promote Girls Inc., especially to parents of young daughters. “It is a safe place for after school,” she says, “where girls can pave paths for their independence as women.”

Girls Inc. would like to thank our 5th Annual Diamonds in the Rough guests, volunteers, donors of Chance Auction items, our event sponsors, Frank Adams Jewelers for donating the incredible grand prize, and to Mary Rogan and the 205 on Wolf Lounge staff.
The event was a success – thanks to ALL of YOU.
